A monologue show about the lives of fascinating, brilliant and courageous women seems like the perfect benefit for Tennessee House District 51’s Aftyn Behn’s campaign. Tennessee Playwrights Studio’s That Woman: The Monologue show is the history you didn’t learn in school. The production is a series of stories imagined from the perspectives of women involved with President John F. Kennedy -- stories that in the past have often been dismissed or deliberately silenced.
That Woman: The Monologue Show is collaborative, written and performed by Nashville playwrights/actors, Although these pieces are rooted in history, monologues are explored through a non-traditional lens with writers whose age, ethnicity, and appearance do not necessarily match their subjects to explore the experiences of these varied women in a unique and universal way.
“Nashville has such a wide range of talented women and I’m grateful they are donating their talents for an evening that will certainly be educational, enlightening and entertaining,” said Behn, who is running for re-election in Tennessee’s House District 51.
The cast will include performances from April Hardcastle Miles, Mary McCallum, Angela Gimlin, Molly Breen, CJ Walton, Kysa Siovan, LaToya Gardner, Elizabeth Turner, Rachel Penner and Brittany Nelson.
The venue hosting the performance, Third Coast Comedy Club, is gearing up for the evening with their bar staff creating a very special drink specifically to honor Aftyn and the ladies of That Woman.
The audience is encouraged to hang around after the show to meet and mingle with Aftyn, her campaign team and members of the cast.
